Cultural Tours in Eshowe
Zulu Village Tour (R850 pp)
Commence 9 - 10 am and finish at 2 - 3 pm. We can be very flexible with the time you start.
This is an experience that you will get nowhere else. Experience real Zulu life in a rural Zululand traditional village. If you are travelling through our country and feel you have missed Africa, you are at the right place. Here you personally engage with local people during your walking tours through the rolling hills of Zululand right near King Shaka’s military stronghold where Zulu and King Shaka were born.
This is their country and we give you an insight into contemporary Zulu life. This laid back tour is a great leveller for anyone living in the first world. You meet fantastic people who have almost none of the material things that you possess but can show you things about life which you have probably forgotten.
Traditional Zulu Ceremonies (R850 pp)
Commence at 12 am and finish about 5 pm on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. You need to have transport. Take good walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and water. These events are out in the open countryside.
We have the privilege of being invited to these ceremonies on a regular basis. Because of our strong relationship and links with the communities, our network identifies many ceremonies on weekends.
These traditional Zulu Ceremonies take place in the rural Zululand countryside. We drive out into the Zululand hills in search of a ceremony that we have been invited to over old dirt tracks and hills. This makes for a great adventure and as we eventually check out other guests winding their way over the hills in a common direction. You can never be too early or late – this is Zulu time at its best.
Zulu Culture insists that anyone and everyone come and witness their Ceremonies. The evenings festivities will be for the families concerned.
Sangoma Tours in Eshowe (From R600 pp). Shaman Experience.
Private Sangoma Visit (Daily). Zulu people believe in ancestors and in traditional healing. They believe that the divine healer, or sangoma, has supernatural powers of communicating with the ancestral spirits on their behalf. Sangomas play a significant role among the Zulu nation and are assigned very powerful status among the society. Often it is women who take up this profession.
Sangomas predict the present and the future of the people who come to seek help from them. Sometimes they are even expected to find stolen goods. They throw and read bones to determine the future. Sangomas generally work alone and sometimes they work in conjunction with medicine men (inyangas).
Also visit a Zulu Chemist and check them making medicines out of roots, bark and a host of other products. Buy a love potion or medicine for a particular cure.
You need to check out availability with Graham and can even organise a visit for a consultation. The cost depends on your personal requirements.
